Peking University Chongqing Big Data Research Institute was jointly founded under the guidance of Chongqing Municipal People's Government by the Administrative Committee of Chongqing High-Tech Industrial Development Zone and Peking University (PKU). It is a municipal public institution with an independent legal personality in Chongqing.
研究院是在重庆市人民政府的指导下，由重庆高新技术产业开发区管理委员会和北京大学共同举办的具有独立法人资格的重庆市属事业单位。
The Research Institute's work is supported by the strengths of world-class disciplines and sci-tech research forces. The strengths and forces come from PKU as well as the university's National Engineering Laboratory for Big Data Analysis and Applications, School of Mathematical Sciences, Beijing International Center for Mathematical Research, College of Engineering, Wangxuan Institute of Computer Technology, School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, Department of Information Management, Department of Biostatistics, and Department of Sociology.
研究院依托北京大学、北京大学大数据分析与应用技术国家工程实验室、数学科学学院、北京国际数学研究中心、工学院、王选计算机研究所、信息科学技术学院、前沿交叉学科研究院、信息管理系、生物统计系、社会学系等院系国际领先的学科优势及科研攻关力量开展具体工作。
The scientific research team is composed of top experts and scholars from PKU. The team is led by Zhang Pingwen, Vice President of PKU, Member of the Standing Committee of PKU Party Committee, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and an academician of The World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries.
科研骨干力量由北京大学顶尖专家学者组成，形成了以中国科学院院士，发展中国家科学院院士，北京大学党委常委、副校长张平文领衔的科研队伍。
