Chongqing has input a total of 100.4 billion yuan (about 15.4 billion U.S. dollars) in various poverty alleviation funds from 2015 to 2020.
Thanks to 8 years of targeted poverty reduction and five years of poverty alleviation, 18 poverty-stricken districts and counties, 1,919 poverty-stricken villages, and 1.906 million impoverished people on the poverty list have been lifted out of poverty. Chongqing has completed its poverty alleviation goals as scheduled.

In rural areas, 84,000 kilometers of roads have been newly built, and more than 160,000 kilometers of roads have been opened to traffic. All administrative villages have been paved with asphalt, with road accessibility increasing to 100% from 87% in 2015.
Two hundred fifty-two thousand impoverished people have been relocated from inhospitable areas, and 309,000 dilapidated houses in rural areas have been renovated.
97.56% of impoverished people have access to medical treatment in their counties and only have to pay no more than 10% for hospitalization and no more than 20% for outpatient services at their own expense. They basically do not have to worry about major or serious diseases that will affect their basic living.
The completion rate of nine-year compulsory education has reached 95%, 1.6 percentage points higher than that in 2015. Children from all impoverished families have access to compulsory education.
