According to Liangjiang New Area, an international new town and a cruise homeport will be built in Cuntan, intending to make Chongqing into an international consumer center city.

Cuntan is home to Lianglu-Cuntan Free Trade Port Area, the first bonded port in inland China, and Belt and Road Commodity Exhibition and Trading Center, the first 4A-level scenic spot in the bonded port in China, making it a great option to build the international new town and cruise home port.

According to an official from Liangjiang New Area, Cuntan will raise its international consumption reputation by improving its positioning in building the international new town and gathering distinctive consumption resources with global vision, international standards, and Chongqing characteristics. Furthermore, with its ambition to build a brand new international cruise home port integrating cruise, port, town, tourism, shopping, and entertainment, Cuntan will build several functional areas including the cruise homeport area, international trade area, international tourism area, international exchange area, and international community area, based on the construction mode of free trade port area, commodity exhibition and trading center, international new town.

Plans to improve the construction schedule are being formulated to ensure a better city landscape and make Cuntan a global magnet.
