On the morning of June 13, the reporter visited the roof of Chongqing Longso Furniture Group at No.111 Shitang Avenue, Yubei District, to explore its roof vegetable garden, which is said to be the largest in Chongqing.

Reaching the rooftop, a green field of corn heaves in sight. 'If you come here next week, the corn will be mature enough for eating,' said Wu Yingrong, President of Longso Group.

"Our initial purpose was just to grow some healthy vegetables for our employees," Wu said, adding that there are over 800 employees in the company. If all employees come back to their posts, the number will mount to 1,500, consuming more than 500 kg of vegetables per day.

People are enjoying the fun of picking vegetables.

So Wu decided to grow vegetables for his employees. After consulting a professor at Southwest University, Wu decided to use the roof of his new plant to build a vegetable garden. Roof vegetable garden offers many benefits: it can effectively utilize the space; it is convenient to pick vegetables; it provides seasonal vegetables; it can lower the temperature in the plant by 2-3℃.

According to Wu, the roof has a total area of 2.67 hectares, of which 2.33 hectares can be used for growing vegetables. All year-round, the garden grows 10-plus kinds of vegetables such as tomatoes, chives, cabbages, and eggplants, with a day output exceeding 500 kg, which can meet the needs of staff canteens. According to market prices, the monthly output value exceeds 40,000 yuan.

"In my garden, you can't help but picking vegetables," Wu said, "In fact, people have a strong desire for healthy vegetables."

Wu plans to make the best of the vegetable garden. He plans to attract more citizens to visit, pick vegetables, and have lunch free in the garden, to let them experience the wonderful integration of "industry, agriculture, and tourism." In addition, he plans to set up a carpentry workshop, attract families to experience parent-child carpentry and industrial tourism, and create a better experience consumption scene for consumers, to enhance the brand, drive consumption and promote marketing, and build Longso into a real green factory.
