China Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Co., Ltd., the first bonded aircraft maintenance company of Chongqing, was founded on January 9. It engages in providing services such as the fuselage overhaul, aircraft refit, aircraft troubleshooting, aircraft disassembly, aircraft renovation, and interior decoration for CRJ aircraft manufactured by Bombardier and Airbus A320. Its establishment fills the gap of Chongqing in the civil aviation maintenance and improves the supporting facilities of Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport.

China Aircraft has signed agreements with 12 airlines regarding the provision of all-round maintenance support services for passenger planes flying from and to Chongqing.

It also has a bonded warehouse for aviation materials, so that foreign aircraft will be free of the security deposit for maintenance in the company. “Aircraft maintenance requires a large number and variety of aviation materials, and some of them need to be imported from all over the world. The declaration process is sometimes longer than the time of maintenance”. The relevant person in charge of the company said that aviation materials are stored in a bonded warehouse, which greatly reduces the time of customs clearance and the maintenance costs of airlines.

China Aircraft will commence the construction of the phase-II hangar based on the existing phase I (including two hangars for narrow-body aircraft). The project plans to build three hangars that cover about 17.3 sqm for narrow-body aircraft and one for paint spraying and is expected to be commenced by the end of 2020 and completed by the end of 2022. The completion of the project will significantly promote the comprehensive development of Chongqing’s aviation industry, making Chongqing a city with enterprises engaging in maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of large equipment. Within the next ten years, the phase-II project is expected to provide more than 5,000 jobs, driving the whole industrial chain development of aircraft maintenance.
