On September 26, Changan Automobile Company Limited and Ford Motor Company reached a deal in Chongqing to deepen strategic cooperation, thus unveiling the Changan-Ford acceleration plan. Witnesses of the contract signing ceremony include Joe Hinrichs, Executive Vice President of Ford and President of its global automotive business, Tang Liangzhi, Secretary of CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Chongqing, and Xu Ping, Chairman of China South Industries Group Co., Ltd. (CSGC) and Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group.

Attendees include Anning Chen, Vice President of Ford and President and CEO of Ford China, leaders of Chongqing Wu Cunrong and Duan Chenggang, and Zhang Baolin, Deputy General Manager of CSGC and Chairman of Changan.

Joe Hinrichs expressed his gratitude to the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Chongqing Municipal People’s Government for their continuous support for Ford in Chongqing. He said that Ford would make every effort to promote the transformation and upgrading of Changan Ford Automobile Co., Ltd., strengthen scientific and technological innovation, construct and take full use of Changan Ford Institute, make Chongqing a significant base that produces high-end models and new models, and strive for win-win cooperation.

Tang Liangzhi hoped that Changan Ford would seize the opportunity of automobile consumption upgrading to meet the diversified needs of consumers, enhance its innovation ability, and help the transformation and improvement of the city’s automobile industry. The CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Chongqing Municipal People’s Government will actively support the development of Changan and Ford in Chongqing and facilitate the implementation of bilateral strategic cooperation.

Xu Ping held that China, as a significant market of the global automobile industry, boasts ample space for development. Being confident about the future of Changan and Changan Ford, CSGC will spare no effort to help them become more prominent and stronger and achieve quality development.

Changan and Ford will strive to achieve the strategic transformation and upgrading of their partnership. They are going to pool the advantages of both sides in five aspects of R&D, production, supply chains, marketing, and innovation to enhance the R&D ability of Changan Ford and upgrading its level of intelligent manufacturing. Moreover, they are slated to help it launch products and technologies that better meet the needs of the Chinese market, and that is in line with the habits of Chinese drivers, accelerate the localization of new Lincoln models, and promote the transformation and upgrading of Changan Ford.
