Chongqing- The opening ceremony of the 2019 China (Chongqing) International Food Festival, the first national festival of its kind，took place in Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality, April 27, 2019.

The opening ceremony of the 2019 China (Chongqing) International Food Festival and the 13th China Catering Industry Conference takes place in Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality, April 27, 2019.

It is the first event in which the China Cuisine Association or CCA has integrated national food and beverage festivals, chef's festivals, food exhibitions and other projects. These element s attract industry experts and foodies. The food festival will be held at the Chongqing International Convention and Exhibition Center in Nan’an District from the April 27 through April 29.

Super-sized food sculpture and hotpot basement

The food festival kicked off by unveiling food sculptures, which attracted many citizens and tourists to take pictures. The works were created with white radish, carrots, pumpkins, and other ingredients to form the likeness of a crane, eagle, peacock, acacia, peace dove and so on. The super-sized sculpture covered an area of 333 m² and took 11 days to complete. In addition, one exhibit featured a 1.5-meter tall hotpot cake tower created by hotpot basement.

The cake tower of hotpot basement is 1.5 meters long.

At the exhibition, there were food brands from the Belt and Road countries. About 100 companies also presented live performances and productions. Some visitors even got the opportunity to make tofu pudding on the spot.

First hotpot ingredients trading platform

The hotpot ingredients trading platform, a joint effort of the Nan’an District government, Jingdong Cloud and the Chongqing Hotpot Association, was unveiled on Saturday. The platform can greatly reduce the cost of business activities, effectively promote the standardization process of hotpot ingredients, and promote the innovative development of Chongqing hotpot industry.

Conference for China's catering development

During the conference, representatives of the global food industry, domestic leading companies, industry celebrities, experts and scholars gathered together to discuss the development of China's catering industry service quality through roundtables and keynote speeches, and to promote the development of Chinese catering.

As an annual industry event, this year's catering industry conference was themed with the development of the new Chinese catering industry, using big data to analyze the 70-year development of China's catering industry.

The event focused on building Chongqing into an international consumer center, in addition to serving as a platform for experience exchange, brand promotion and trade match-making for the national catering industry.
