According to Chongqing Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China on March 20, the “manufacturing program of the hydrogen-based fuel-cell and its core parts”, with a total investment of RMB 4.55 billion, has entered in official agreement and will be located in Liangjiang New Area.

The first industrialization program of hydrogen-based fuel-cell in Chongqing

It is the first industrialization program of hydrogen-based fuel-cell located in Chongqing. The total investment of the Snowman Group in this program is RMB 4.55 billion. After three sessions of construction, it will reach a capacity of 100,000 hydrogen cell engines and total parts including electric piles annually.

After the manufacturing base reaches the target output, it will bring a production value of over RMB 10 billion to Chongqing. Moreover, the program will also bring good economic and social benefits to the hydrogen energy industry of this city.

Why develop hydrogen energy industry in Chongqing

Hydrogen is a high-quality fuel featuring rich reserves and significant energy. Not included in fossil fuels, it is clean energy available for sustainable development. The hydrogen cell utilizes the chemical element of hydrogen (H) and with the function of energy storage.

Compared with the traditional counterparts, vehicles powered by hydrogen cells will realize an energy exchange efficiency of 60% to 80% - two to three times that of the internal combustion engine. The fuel for these cells is hydrogen and oxygen, and the resultant is clean water. This fuel type is free from carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, sulfur, and particles. Thus, the public believes that vehicles with hydrogen cells are of zero emission and pollution free.

Currently, Liangjiang New Area is one of the most crucial automobile industry bases in China. It not only pioneers in the development of traditional vehicle industry but also highlights the industrial transformation and upgrading led by intelligent development and new energy. What is more, Liangjiang New Area is also conducting an in-depth layout in new energy vehicles.
