Chongqing- On January 30, a special train imported pulp from Thailand on the New International Land-sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC) arrived at the Xiaonanya railway logistics center in Jiangjin District, Southwest China's Chongqing. 

The next day, 122 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of ferrochrome, soda ash, and other goods were shipped to the world from Xiaonanya station. 

Thanks to the ILSTC Jiangjin railway, domestic and foreign products can easily and quickly enter each market in ASEAN countries. 

Choosing Jiangjin District to be another destination for the ILSTC Railway is due to its unique location advantages of Jiangjin Luohuang Port Industry City with its three-dimensional transportation hub and solid industrial foundation, said the relevant person of Jiangjin District.

Expand international supply chain and industrial chain

With 30 containers of about 770 tons of pulp, this batch of products on January 30 was imported from Thailand by the Nine Dragons Paper Industries Chongqing Co. Ltd., a company that manufactures paper products and produces and sells liner board, and entered the border from Guangxi Qinzhou Port. 

"We communicate with port customs and follow up the whole logistics process so that the imported pulp can be put into production quickly," said an official with the Chongqing Customs District. 

With the improvement of national environmental protection in recent years, major domestic paper companies represented by the Nine Dragons Paper Industries Chongqing Co. Ltd. have aimed at the Southeast Asian market to expand their international supply chain and industrial chain. 

By the end of 2022, 8,900 TEUs of imported pulp have been transported since its business launch in 2017, where 5,000 TEUs were shipped by ILSTC Jiangjin railway, providing efficient and convenient supply chain services for many leading paper companies.

Trade exchanges between western China and foreign countries

Nowadays, not only high-quality Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) products are imported to China, but also Chinese-made goods are exported to foreign markets. 

As one of the ILSTC's important departure stations, Jiangjin Xiaonanya station saw growing operation numbers with the normalized two-way operation of the ILSTC Jiangjin railway. 

During the Spring Festival in 2023, the shipment volume of the ILSTC Jiangjin railway increased by 169.23% year-on-year, boosting the economic and trade exchanges between western China and foreign countries. 

This year, Chongqing will strengthen regional industrial cooperation and integrate resources from all parties to boost characteristic industries of pulp and paper, intelligent homes, non-ferrous metals, etc.
