Chongqing- This year, the Winter Olympics takes place in Beijing and makes the city the first to host both the Summer and the Winter Olympics. Known as a big country with vast land, China has taken this event as an inspiration and motivation to encourage 300 million people to enjoy snow sports. Chongqing, the biggest municipality in Southwest China, is also catching up with the winter Olympics trends.

For natives born and living in Chongqing,  an inland southwestern city of this country, chances to enjoy winter sports were rare and expensive. But the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics promoted the construction of ski resorts in most cities and provinces in China. It also brought Chongqingers more opportunities to enjoy winter sports without traveling far. There are six ice rinks and nine snow rinks in Chongqing today, which are boosting the tourism industry by attracting more people. Data from the Chongqing Winter Sports Management Center shows that in Chongqing, the number of people participating in ice and snow sports has increased from less than 10,000 in 2018 to more than 2 million in 2021. According to the Chongqing Municipal Development Committee of Culture and Tourism, due to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Chongqing Wulong Karst Tourist Area, Nanchuan Jinfo Mountain, and Fengdu Nantian Lake that constructed with ice and snow sports rinks and entertainment facilities received 129,000, 112,000, and 80,000 tourists respectively during the seven days vacation of the Spring Festival, aka Chinese New Year.
