Chongqing- In only 15 minutes, a candidate who called the police after getting lost was successfully sent to an examination center of Gaokao, China's most important college entrance exam, thanks to the Chongqing Liangjiang intelligent transportation platform.

According to the person in charge, after learning of the candidate's situation, the traffic and patrol police of Liangjiang New Area immediately started an emergency assistance service, generating optimal real-time routes.

Using Liangjiang's intelligent transportation platform and Internet resources to analyze big data, forecast short-term traffic patterns, and design the shortest route based on real-time road conditions. 

The intelligent transportation system in Chongqing has already become a major part of this scientific and technological scenario, including an early warning of abnormal congestion, traffic accidents, analysis, and automatic correlation of surrounding traffic lights.

The platform can use big data processing and analysis to predict daily road conditions, according to the person in charge of the command room. A comprehensive view of the real-time road conditions, congestion indexes, congestion rankings, police force, equipment, and facility distribution can be gained through the Liangjiang intelligent traffic platform.

"Especially for handling emergencies, the platform has incomparable advantages over humans," said a person in charge. 

Based on video and big data artificial intelligence (AI), the platform can intelligently predict traffic events such as abnormal congestions, traffic accidents, and water accumulations on the road.

A situation is automatically detected when it occurs and automatically linked to the surrounding video, signal lights, and police resources so that they can be analyzed and processed to be intervened and dealt with.

Smart transportation is closely related to daily lives

Regarding transportation construction and intelligent development, Chongqing possesses great potential with fruitful achievements over the years.

For example, Chongqing released real-time bus information through Baidu and Gaode, the country's main map applications. To improve the quality of service on the cruise taxi, the onboard intelligent terminal has been upgraded and transformed.

On top of that, Chongqing launched Baidu Apollo automatic driving travel service platform "Apollo Go" in Yongchuan District, marking the country's first fully unmanned qualification.

Meanwhile, the city government has prioritized boosting intelligence with a series of landed projects. For instance, Chongqing put into use intelligent passenger transport stations and pilots' functional applications such as "face swiping" purchasing and check-in, which reduced the in-station time of passengers by 30%.

"Smart transportation is closely related to our daily lives," said a Chongqing Municipal Transportation Bureau official. "The new generation of information technology is deeply integrated with the transportation industry, improving the traffic efficiency, travel experiences, industry governance, and service capacity."

"Now we are building a fast, comfortable, advanced, smart, green, and safe, comprehensive transportation system, further promoting the high-quality development of transportation and creating a high-quality life for the public," he continued.

As a part of this year's Smart China Expo (SCE), the transportation bureau will organize an intelligent transportation forum to popularize intellectual transportation knowledge, display intelligent transportation achievements, and explore smart transportation prospects.

At the same time, it will also demonstrate "Chongqing wisdom" and "transportation strength" through this international platform, stepping up exchanges and cooperation with multiple international parties.
