Chongqing Central Park covers an area of 1.53 square kilometers. Its construction started in June 2011 and opened in January 2013. The project has an investment of 4.6 billion yuan. It is the fourth city center park in the world after New York Central Park, London Hyde Park, and Shanghai Pudong Century Park, and it is also the largest open urban central park in western China.
The park is located between Jiangbei International Airport and Yuelai Convention and Exhibition Center. It is roughly a long strip from north to south, with a length of 2,400 meters from north to south and a width of 770 meters from east to west. The length of a circle is 6 kilometers. Private cars are not allowed into the park, and 2,800 underground parking spaces have been built in the park's east, west, and south directions.
The park has a 600-meter-long Festival Avenue, a 300-acre Sunshine Lawn, a beautiful Mirror Lake, and a fountain array covering an area of 20,000 square meters.
Festival Avenue is an avenue on the central axis of the Central Park, 20 meters wide and 600 meters long. On both sides of Festival Avenue are Camellia Garden, Cherry Blossom Garden, Osmanthus Garden, Begonia Garden, etc., plus ginkgo Biloba and camphor formed a beautiful botanical garden. The central square is a large 30-hectare square at the highest point of the park and can accommodate 100,000 people; The Sunshine Lawn covers nearly 300 acres, where you can fly kites and bask in the sun while you can row a boat and watch the night view on the Mirror Lake; The fountain zone is divided into three areas, namely the fountain viewing area, the interactive fountain area, and the water curtain movie area. In summer, you can walk through the fountain, which is open at 7:30 pm on weekends and public holidays.
Around the park, the infrastructures are Chongqing No. 8 Middle School and Yubei Hospital. Rail Transit Line 10 passes through the underground of the park.
