Summer is coming with rising temperatures in Chongqing. A representative of enterprises asked what industrial enterprises could do to prevent air pollution under high-temperature weather conditions.

Zhang Jie, Deputy Director of Bishan District Ecology and Environment Bureau, indicated that the ozone concentration is the highest from June to September every year. The daily ozone peak occurs in the noon or afternoon. He explained, ozone is not directly emitted by pollution sources, while it serves as a secondary pollutant converted from other pollutants.
Zhang also suggested that industrial enterprises shall take prevention and control measures in the summer. For instance, those production and service activities that produce exhaust gas containing volatile organic compounds should be carried out in confined spaces or equipment. In addition, it is also necessary to consider staggered production during the early warning of heavy pollution weather in summer.
Some enterprise representatives are interested in whether the corresponding subsidies can be provided for upgrading and optimizing industrial waste treatment facilities and equipment, such as nitrogen oxides disposal.
Zhang introduced that for the enterprises that carry out their own deep treatment of industrial waste gas pollution, there will be some financial subsidy policies from the central and municipal levels.

Specifically for the Bishan district, the funding subsidy focuses on mature and efficient partial treatment technology, such as replacing raw and auxiliary materials with low volatile organic matter content source replacement, including RTO, RCO, CO, and activated carbon adsorption treatment technology.
At the scene, Liu Binqi, spokesperson of the laws and regulations department of the Ecology and Environment Bureau, introduced the relevant knowledge of environmental laws and regulations to the enterprises, especially on how enterprises can enhance the understanding of law-abiding concept after the implementation of the Yangtze River Protection Law on March 1 this year.
