Chongqing - The 2021 China (Chongqing) International IOT Innovation Competition was officially launched at the Xiantao BigData Valley in Yubei District, Chongqing on Friday. Dozens of officials from relevant government departments, local universities, and representatives from some well-known IOT technology enterprises attended the launching ceremony.

"As an important infrastructure to promote the green, efficient, and sustainable development of a society, the internet of things is a strategic sector concerning the future of a nation," said Gao Xinbo, president of Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, in his opening speech.

Themed "Making Everything Connect Intelligently, Perceive the World and Create the Future," the IOT innovation competition aims to find the best design teams of internet of things solutions from the world's various IOT enterprises along the industry chain and IOT system and product developers. The construction of a full-fledged IOT ecosystem is expected to attract more IOT industry projects to comet to Chongqing and expedite the clustering effect of IOT enterprises, which will help to further boost the transformation and upgrading of intelligent industries in Chongqing and the southwestern region.

The competition program consists of four parallel channels, one for the public and one for universities, a special channel for designated subjects, and a 5G-based industrial internet channel. Every participating team, with no more than five members, is able to submit applications to compete in multiple parallel channels and the final ranking will only take into consideration the one with the highest score.

After advancing from the preliminary rounds to the semi-finals and finals, the winning teams will be eligible to claim 50 award items, with a total value of 1 million yuan. Specifically, the public channel sets up 10 award items worth a total of 270,000 yuan, the university channel sets up 20 award items also worth 270,000 yuan, the special channel sets up 10 award items worth 260,000 yuan, and the 5G+ channel also sets up 10 award items worth 260,000 yuan.

Under the guidance of the Organizing Committee of 2021 Smart China Expo, The 2021 China (Chongqing) International IOT innovation competition will be organized by Chongqing Municipal Economic and Information Technology Commission, Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, Chongqing Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Chongqing Municipal Big Data Application Development Bureau, Yubei District People's Government, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and Huawei Technology Company.
