Chongqing - iChongqing has conducted the exclusive interview with H.E. Luis Diego Monsalve, Colombia Ambassador to China, after the opening ceremony of WCIFIT on May 21st. Mr. Monsalve shared his expectation of Chongqing for future cooperation potential.  Colombia was invited to be the guest country for WCIFIT, and it brought activities series in the afternoon to promote agricultural products, tourism resources, and other investment opportunities for Chongqing's companies. 

Mr. Monsalve indicated China's crucial investment in Colombia when asked to share the successful investment cases, one is the Bogota subway built by China Harbor Engineering Company Ltd., "China Harbor is part of the CCCC group. They are starting to construct the transportation system for the capital city of Colombia. This is a $5 billion project, which is one of the largest project in Colombia and one of the largest project in Latin America", he introduced. 

He also suggested that there are a lot of opportunities for Colombia and China in the future, such as gold mining and emerald exports. "We hope that also in the copper mining in the near future, also, we are the largest and the most beautiful emerald producer in the world", he said.

China has become Colombia's 2nd largest trade and investment partner and largest investment partner in Asia. “We have around 13 to $14 billion of trade between the two countries. It's about $10 billion from China to Colombia, and around 3 to 4 billion from Colombia to China.
