On April 28, the 5th Anniversary Celebration of Chongqing Cross-border Highway Regular Lorry & Launching Ceremony of Chongqing-Vientiane (Laos) Direct Cross-border Highway Regular Lorry was held in Nanpeng Highway Bonded Logistics Center (Type B).
Since the first cross-border highway, a regular lorry left Chongqing on April 28. 2016, the Chongqing Highway Logistics Base has been running for five years.
During this period, it welcomed Chongqing-ASEAN Regular Lorry (east, double track of east, middle, west, Asia-Europe, and Singapore lines) and Chongqing-Central Regular Lorry (Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan lines) successively. The two cover the entire Indo-China Peninsula, build land transport channels connecting Chongqing and Central Asia, give rise to the land port of cross-border highway regular lorries, and become a vital carrier of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC).
As of April 28, 2021, 13,617 TEUs, which weighed 93,400 tons and carried cargos with a total worth of 3.506 billion yuan (about 500 million U.S. dollars), have been delivered through 6,052 highway lorries.
The first direct lorry traveled from Chongqing to Vientiane, Laos, via the Mohan Port in Yunnan Province. It is expected to take roughly four days to complete the 1,900-kilometer-long journey.
Unlike previous highway lorries, the Chongqing-Vientiane direct highway lorry used the GMS Road Transport Permit, allowing lorries to get to their destinations without a stop. Chongqing is the first inland holder of such permits in western China.
The direct highway lorries do not need to transship cargo, thereby reducing cargo damage, improving transport efficiency, and boosting the connectivity of land transport channels between Chongqing and ASEAN counties.
