Chongqing Sees Booming Ice-Snow Tourism in New Year’s Holiday

According to the city's major scenic spots, ice and snow tourism has become a highlight of the holiday market, and many scenic spots attracted a large number of tourists during the New Year's holiday. Among them, the northern slope area of Jinfo Mountain implemented measures to limit the flow of visitors.

At 10:00 a.m., January 2, there was a long line of vehicles waiting to enter the Fairy Mountain Scenic Area in Wulong District, but there was no traffic chaos under relevant staff guidance. The ski resort in the scenic area was packed with people playing and laughing. Snow related projects such as snowboarding, sledding, snow tubing, and "rowing" attracted vast crowds.

A staff member of the scenic area introduced that to serve the tourists better, the scenic area cooperated with the traffic department for emergency management at main traffic nodes inside and outside the scenic area. Additionally, as 120 buses have been added to transport tourists, the scenic area is run well now.

Jinfo Mountain is another well-known snow appreciation destination in Chongqing, where the 21st Jinfo Mountain Ice & Snow and Hot Spring Festival is being held. Many tourists were attracted by the chance to play in snow, skiing, riding in a horse-drawn float, going dog sledding, driving a "tank," and taking a bath in a hot spring in the snow.

On the morning of January 2, the northern slope area of Jinfo Mountain implemented measures to limit visitors' flow as the number of visitors reached its maximum capacity. Nanchuan District Commission of Culture and Tourism Development issued the Proposal of Nanchuan Citizens on Avoiding Peak Time of Travel to Jinfo Mountain. It hopes that the locals and VIPs with annual cards could travel to the scenic spot on workdays to attract tourists from other places. According to the relevant introduction, the scenic spot opens at 7:00 a.m. on holidays and weekends, earlier than usual.

What's more, Nantian Lake scenic area in Fengdu County, which has just established a national tourism resort, is currently holding a series of theme activities for the season of ice and snow. It has been equipped with many amusement facilities in the snow, such as motorcycles, rafts, tubes, bumper cars, banana-shaped boats, and vehicles for drifting, making many visitors linger.
