The agreement involves talent training and provision, subject research, product R&D, technological innovation and consultation, and academic conference. The two parties are slated to build the Southwest University Fengdu Enterprise-University-Research Institute Collaborative Innovation Center for mutual complementarity, multidirectional communication, and diverse collaboration.

In terms of product R&D and promotion, the College of Food Science is expected to recommend proper scientific and technological achievements, such as new technologies, processes, and products, to solve technical difficulties in production, technological reformation, and introduction encountered by companies in the Fengdu Industrial Park. For talent training and provision, the College of Food Science will send teachers and students to Fengdu for practice and internship, while enterprises will send managers and technicians to SWU for in-class study and academic lectures to improve participants’ abilities. Additionally, the two parties will work together to hold academic conferences and carry out subject researches, to meet enterprises’ production needs and respond to the economic development and food processing industrial planning of Fengdu County.

“After thoroughly studying the spirit of the fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, we reached the partnership. Based on the existing industries of Fengdu and its goal to develop a 20-billion-yuan food processing industrial cluster during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, we will be committed to developing such processing industries as manufactured meat, condiments, grain, oil and food, fruits and vegetables. General Secretary Xi Jinping said China needs scientific and technological solutions, more than ever, to boost economic and social development as well as improving people’s living standards; the scientific and technological development must target the global science frontiers, serve the main economic battlefield, strive to fulfill the significant needs of the country and benefit people’s lives and health.

To act upon these important instructions, we will rely on science and technologies to empower the food industry of Fengdu and roll out innovative measures to realize high-quality sustainable development. This move will practically fuel the effective integration and collaborative innovation between talent from SWU and the food processing industry of Fengdu, technically supporting enterprises, solving their technology-related problems, powering them to achieve technological innovation and progress, while training high-caliber talent,” said ahead of the Management Committee of Fengdu Industrial Park.
