In this interview, we have Stephen Ellison, the Consul General of the UK in Chongqing, he shared his impression and stories about China.

Before engaging in diplomatic work, he was a bridge engineer. He has worked in the construction industry for more than 30 years in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and the Caribbean. In 1984, when he took part in an engineering project in Kuwait, he worked with construction colleagues from China for the first time, which opened his indissoluble bond with China. From 2014 to 2018, Mr. Ellison worked at the British Department of International Trade at the British Embassy in China as Minister Counsellor.

China has left a deep impression on him in three aspects. First, the Chinese culture is extensive and profound, second is the rapid development of China and the third is the huge Chinese market. He believes that China's huge market and rapid development will bring huge business opportunities, which will be his focus during his tenure. He hopes to further promote the cooperation between the UK and Southwest China, including in education, medical care, health, and new energy vehicles. Promote bilateral trade and two-way cooperation between the United Kingdom and Southwest China, and help British goods enter China while also helping Chinese goods enter the British market.
