The 2020 Symposium on National Postdoctoral Academic Exchanges and Innovative Development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle was convened in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on November 21, as a key part of the 2020 Chongqing Talents Conference and one of the National Postdoctoral Academic Exchange Program activities.

Data show that the proportion of post-doctors who continue their careers in Chongqing after completing post-doctoral studies has increased from 70% to 80%; 255 doctors from other parts of the country and 44 overseas doctors are attracted and gathered to engage in postdoctoral research in Chongqing, with the proportion increased from 30% to 49%.

The "2020 Symposium on National Postdoctoral Academic Exchanges and Innovative Development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle" was convened in Chongqing on November 21.

This symposium's highlight lies in the launching ceremony of post-doctoral studies and the leap-forward development of post-doctoral talent attraction in 2020. One hundred post-doctoral representatives held a collective launching ceremony on the site, which was simultaneous with the online ceremony held by Chongqing University, Southwest University, Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences, Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing High-tech Industrial Development Zone (CQHT) and other station units.

As of November 20, the number of newly-added post-doctoral entrants in the station this year came to 607, achieving the goal of doubling the number of post-doctoral recruitment 14 months in advance.

Government leaders have made positive efforts to create a favorable environment for talent. For example, under the leadership of the heads of the Chongqing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and the Postdoctoral Administration Office of Chongqing, 26 policy propaganda activities were carried out in Chongqing University, Southwest University, Chongqing Medical University, Western Chongqing Science City, and other universities, scientific research institutes, parks, and enterprises. Attempts have been made to bolster the establishment of post-doctoral innovation and entrepreneurship parks in Liangjiang New Area and CQHT, and hold post-doctoral salons in Liangjiang New Area, CQHT, and Yubei District to build innovation & entrepreneurship and academic & technological exchange platforms for post-doctors.

Additionally, greater efforts have been made to enhance the talent attraction through strengthening joint domestic training, such as conducting special recruitment activities in Beijing, Chengdu, and other places, and promoting joint international training to attract outstanding overseas doctors to study and work in Chongqing.

There are 411 stations for post-doctoral studies in Chongqing, with 1,816 postdoctoral fellows and nearly 5,000 enrolled post-doctors. A talent-environment-themed "satisfying those in the vicinity and attracting those far away" is booming.
