Chongqing- The 3^rd Yangtze River Three Gorges (Liangping) International Pomelo Expo is set to kick off in Chongqing’s Liangping District on Nov. 6, with a series of relevant events and activities scheduled in the month-long period from Oct. 23 to Nov. 22, according to a press briefing of the Liangping District People’s Government Information Office Thursday.

“Themed ‘Moderate Prosperity, Pomelo Lifestyle,’ this year’s expo aims better to promote the brand and industry of ‘Liangping Pomelo.’ To better display the beautiful rural landscape, profound agricultural traditions, splendid historical deposits, and the happiness and well-being of residents,” Zhang Ziyu, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Liang District Committee, told the press briefing.

First launched in 2018, the Liangping International Pomelo Expo has been successfully held for two years and will take online and offline forms, including three themed chapters and eight series activities, for the latest edition.

The first chapter is themed “Great Expectations for Small Pomelo,” which consists of a 5G-supported opening ceremony and a “Pomelo Fashion” performance show; the second chapter focuses on Cloud and VR technologies and includes two virtual experience halls, the “Cloud Pomelo Sea” and the “Cloud Pomelo Exhibition,” and an interactive game “Cloud Pomelo Fun;” the third chapter is called “Pomelo to the World,” which is made up of a click-and-order promotion “Cloud Pomelo Picking,” a cultural creative contest “Cloud Pomelo Challenge,” and a singing and distribution ceremony “Cloud Pomelo Shipping.”

Liangping will continue to build on this expo as a stepping stone to boost its pomelo sales and a platform to showcase the district’s latest achievements in the integrated development of culture and tourism. It will also emphasize regional coordination, multilateral cooperation, and win-win for all parties by hosting more scientific, intelligent, immersive, and interactive activities alongside the expo.

While promoting the “Liangping Pomelo” brand to a much bigger national or even international market and expanding the expo’s friends circle, Zhang added, “at the same time, we also want to push forward the upgrading of pomelo production and specialty agricultural industries by blending the objective of increasing revenue for local pomelo farmers with the micro strategy of realizing rural rejuvenation.”

Liangping Pomelo is one of the three famous pomelo brands in China and Shatian Pomelo of Guangxi Province and Wendan Pomelo of Fujian Province.
