What to do when taking a bus without money and travel card? Don't worry because you can use face recognition. According to Bishan District on July 29, the face recognition system for public transport will be launched for trial operation starting August 1.
It can fulfill the whole process of face recognition and is thus a breakthrough in Chongqing in this regard.
How does it work? The on-board terminal will automatically collect the face-related information of passengers when they board the bus equipped with this system, which will be then be analyzed and identified by the back-end database. If the information matches, the passengers do not have to pay by other means, said a relevant official.
"The process is estimated to be completed within 200 milliseconds from the moment passenger steps onto the bus. It is so fast and convenient that they do not even perceive it."
The official added that the on-board face recognition system not only spares passengers the trouble of using mobile phones or looking for travel cards but also makes it faster and more convenient to use public transport.
