At 6 a.m. on July 27, at Cuntan Station, a basic hydrologic station situated in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, the rising floodwater exceeded the "180.5-meter" mark on the riverbank. This was the first time this year that the water level here exceeded the warning mark. On the same day, the Yangtze River's No. 3 flood passed downtown Chongqing. Some areas of Ciqikou Ancient Town along the river were submerged.

At the fruit wholesale market in Caiyuanba, Yuzhong District Chongqing,  a business owner rowed a boat to check his losses.

At 1 p.m., some roads and some street lamp posts in the ancient town were flooded. All the passageways from the ancient town to the riverside have been cordoned off, with signs such as "Wading Area, No Passage" and "Here is Inundation Area as Flood Peak Passes." Staff was on duty to prevent people from passing through these areas.

At 4 p.m., at the fruit wholesale market in Caiyuanba, Yuzhong District, the water level had risen to the roof of some low-lying shops along the river when the flood passed. Staff at the scene said that shops had been informed to evacuate to minimize the damage caused by the flood.

Yangtze River's No. 3 Flood Passes Downtown Chongqing, and there is a high water level at the junction of the two rivers.

In response to the flood peak passing through this section, relevant departments took actions, sparing no effort in flood prevention and emergency rescue.

Chongqing Maritime Safety Administration issued a level 2 (orange) water traffic safety alert on July 26 to ensure shipping safety. The maritime authority organized and coordinated 45 powerful tugboats to prevent the flood and protect the port. It stepped up patrol inspection and warning publicity in the waters under its jurisdiction, urged vessels to comply with the navigation restrictions, put safety prevention and control measures in place, and took strict precautions against accidents and dangerous situations.

Since the flood season began this year, hundreds of people from local departments, communities, and volunteers in Nan'an District have formed a flood control working group to launch a 24-hour patrol mechanism on Nanbin Road.

From the beginning of the flood season to July 26, Chongqing Red Cross Society has launched five emergency responses to natural disasters such as floods and landslides occurring in local districts and counties and allocated badly-needed materials worth 3.1657 million yuan to these areas.
