To consolidate high-quality blockchain resources, handpick excellent blockchain application solutions, and empower Chongqing in building a leading blockchain industry area and a famous smart city, Chongqing held the Blockchain Application Innovation Contest under online Smart China Expo (SCE) 2020 in Yuzhong District on July 8.

With the aim of developing a professional contest with wide influence both at home and abroad, it is hosted by the Organizing Committee of SCE 2020, organized by Chongqing Big Data Application and Development Administration and People's Government of Yuzhong District, and co-organized by Chongqing Blockchain Innovation Alliance and Sichuan Provincial Blockchain Industry Association.

This contest adopts an open-ended mechanism. Under this mechanism, 12 subjects in three fields of the digital economy, digital finance, and digital society will be given. Each participating team will choose one as their core R&D direction to figure out a technical solution with specific application scenarios. The jury will assess every solution from a series of indicators such as business value, innovation level, application scenario, technological value, and user experience, with a focus on the feasibility in political, commercial, and civil application situations.

As an integral part of SCE 2020, the contest has invited academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering to form a consultancy team and experts from domestic higher education institutions and scientific research institutes to develop an expert team. Moreover, it has attracted dozens of top-notch investment agencies, and also prepared a prize pool of at least RMB 10 million and a range of support policies to inspire participating teams.

Finally, the contest will select two first-prize winners, three second-prize winners, and five third-prize winners, with a combined prize of RMB 1 million. Besides, the top 20 participating teams can have the opportunity to win an incentive investment with the combined amount reaching RMB 50 million.

In addition to this, greater emphasis has been placed on expanding blockchain talented workforce. The contest has given priority to the participating teams in incentive policies, and all the participating teams that passed registration review are entitled to free access to the contest's support alliance chain and other related incentives such as learning resources and professional guidance provided by Chongqing Blockchain Innovation Alliance.
