It was premiered in 1877, and now holds an unchallenged position over the world audience after rounds of improvement. Swan Lake also serves as a benchmark for dancers and an example of the realism ballet.

Traditionally, it has two different ends: The prince got puzzled by illusion and died for love with Princess Odette or love triumphs over evil, and the couple lives a happy life.

Be it comedy or tragedy, Swan Lake tells a true and pretty love story in a fairy tale world. A girl is under a curse that compels her to become a swan, and the contrast of the white and black swans, symbols of good and evil, have made the story more sadly-beautiful, romantic, and charming.

When Act III draws near the end, the dancer performing the black swan should give at least 32 successive whipped fouettés, where her tiptoe should be within a belt-circled scale. The great and striking 32 turns have vividly shown the tenacity and charm of the black swan.
