MV Augusta, one of the world-leading Italian motorcycle brands, officially agreed on July 25 with the Chongqing-based Loncin Motor Co., Ltd. (603766.SS) on manufacturing a new line of Made-in-Chonqing MV Augusta products.
According to the agreement, Loncin and MV Augusta will have a long-term strategic partnership in technology, branding, and marketing. In the cooperation phase I, the MV Augusta product range of 800CC will be manufactured in Loncin’s factory and then sent back to Italy for assembling into finished motorcycles.

Furthermore, both parties will have in-depth cooperation in the R&D, manufacture (including the manufacture of finished MV Augusta motorcycles by Loncin) and sales of large-displacement finished motorcycle platforms.
To be noted, Loncin will also provide MV Augusta with production technologies and platforms for small displacement motorcycles. This is the first time for Chinese motorcycle brands to export to a foreign brand.
MV Augusta, formerly the Augusta Aviation Company, is one of the luxury motorcycle brands in the world. Its large-displacement motorcycle products are honored as “Unique Motorcycle Artworks” by quantities of high-end users across the world.
According to relevant sources, Loncin Group has achieved mass production of BMW motorcycles before this partnership, which has laid a solid foundation for the establishment of its own high-end motorcycle customization production base. Now that several international motorcycle brands have now settled in Chongqing, local motorcycle spare parts manufacturers will be enabled to achieve technological upgrading, and the motorcycle industry in Chongqing will embrace an industrial transformation, upgrading, and improvement of global competitiveness.
