Mid-Autumn Festival is a harvest festival, celebrated in China and other East Asian countries. To the Chinese, the festival means family reunion and harmony.
The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar with full moon at night, corresponding to late September to early October of the Gregorian calendar with a full moon at night.
If you are in China during the Festival, it will be impossible not to notice mooncakes. And hand-making mooncakes represent a gene of Chen Maoyin’s family. Chen’s grandmother at 86 keeps making mooncakes in a traditional way.
Before 2018 Mid-Autumn Festival, iChongqing, the internet platform of Chongqing International Media Center has invited 6 foreign friends in Chongqing to share mooncakes brought by Mr. Chen.
