Wushan Airport, located in the Three Gorges scenic area, is similar to an aircraft carrier in appearance.

For foreign tourists who want to visit the spectacular Three Gorges of China, the only feasible way seems to take a cruise in Chongqing city and then travel along the Yangtze River. However, it will be possible to take a flight from Chongqing and arrive at the Three Gorges in 2019.
According to Chongqing Airport Group, the construction of the runway of Wushan Airport has been completed. And it is expected that the airport will be put into operation by 2019.
The runway is 2,600 meters long and has a width of 45 meters. It will meet the taking-off and landing requirement of planes such as Boeing 737 and Airbus 320.
Wushan Airport will firstly open route to Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, which will shorten the travel time from Chongqing city to the Three Gorges to one hour. For further plan, it will open route to major Chinese cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, etc.
